1. Introduction

Welcome to Slava: Your Orthodox Faith Journey ("Slava," "we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information — especially your faith and spiritual data — with the utmost respect and care.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over your data. It applies to all users of the Slava mobile application available on iOS and Android.

By creating an account or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.

2. The Special Nature of Your Faith Data

Slava is a faith-based application. Information about your religious beliefs, spiritual practices, fasting observance, and faith journey constitutes sensitive personal data under GDPR Article 9, PIPEDA, and equivalent legislation worldwide.

The Atlas Elevated Company commits that your faith data is:

Never sold to any third party

Never used for advertising targeting or shared with advertisers

Used only to personalize your in-app experience

3. What Information We Collect

Account information: Email address, display name, optional profile photo.

Faith journey data: Your self-selected journey stage.

Patron saint / Slava selection: Your family patron saint feast day.

Fasting logs: Records of fasting days you choose to log.

Daily check-in data: Check-in completion and optional reflection notes.

"Ask Why" conversations: Questions submitted to our AI feature.

Device identifiers, usage data, login timestamps, and crash reports.

We do not collect GPS location, contacts, camera, microphone, payment information, or biometric data.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to create and manage your account, personalize your faith journey, deliver daily liturgical content, operate the Ask Why AI feature powered by Anthropic (Claude), track fasting and check-in streaks, send notifications with your permission, improve the App, and respond to support requests.

We never use your data for automated decision-making that produces legal effects.

5. Third-Party Services

Google Firebase: Authentication, database, crash reporting.

Anthropic (Claude AI): Powers the Ask Why feature. Your questions are sent without your name or account identifier. As an API customer, your inputs are not used to train Anthropic's models.

6. Data Retention

Account data is retained until you delete your account

Ask Why conversation history is retained for 30 days then deleted

Anonymous usage data is retained for up to 24 months in aggregate

All personal data is deleted within 30 days of account deletion

7. Your Rights

You have the right to access, delete, correct, and export your data.

EU/Serbian users have full GDPR rights

Canadian users are protected under PIPEDA

California residents have CCPA rights

Contact help@slava-app.com to exercise any right. We respond within 30 days.

8. Data Security

All data in transit is encrypted via TLS 1.2+

Firestore data is encrypted at rest

Firebase Security Rules restrict access to your own data only

App Check prevents unauthorized backend access

We do not store passwords

9. Children's Privacy

Slava is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from children. Contact help@slava-app.com to report any concern.

10. International Data Transfers

Data may be processed in the United States via Firebase and Anthropic. EU/Serbian users are protected by Google's Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Anonymous / Guest Access

Guest users receive a temporary anonymous ID. No email or name is collected. Anonymous data is deleted after 90 days of inactivity.

12. Push Notifications

Notifications are sent only with your permission and can be disabled at any time in device or app settings.

13. Changes to This Policy

We will update the Effective Date and notify you in-app or by email for material changes.
